Lots of awesomeness going on lately at the local concert venues! Two weeks ago my sister-in-law, Kelly, and I had a blast from the past at Scottrade with New Kids on the Block and Back Street Boys (the NKOTBSB Tour). So fun!
Anyway, I’m not the kind of photographer that likes to carry my heavy camera everywhere. I especially didn’t want to bring it along to this show. I was confident I could get what I needed with my iPhone. And I did. Let me explain how this is done.
First of all, unless you have floor seats, don’t try to capture the sweat on the performers faces. No zooming! Your hands will not be steady enough to get a good result. Also, unless you snap a shot when all the lights are on way before the concert starts you won’t get a shot of you and your comrades. If you do, you will have to use the flash and it will only light up faces making them completely white, you will not be able to see anything in the background (doesn’t look good). Here’s what you can get-even if you are in the nosebleeds:
How it’s done:
1st – Turn off your flash. On the iPhone there is a lightning bolt and the word “off” in the top left corner… click that.
2nd – Zoom all the way out.
3rd – Try to get as steady as possible. This is the tricky part because everyone is usually standing. Just do your best.
4th – Click. Get the shot. Now you have something to remember the concert by. (Better than waiting in line for a $35 t-shirt)
