HEAD’S UP! THIS WORKSHOP DATE HAS PAST, BUT YOU CAN REGISTER FOR AUGUST 1, 2015 WORKSHOP HERE!
This year, I decided to tackle a personal photography project I had been both anxious to do and intimidated by for quite sometime: a daily photo of my family and happenings. This is called a 365 Project. In 2015, I excitedly (yet timidly) took on my first 365 Project. Today will mark day 84 of this challenge and I’m going strong!
I’ll admit, there are days where we get to bedtime and I realize I forgot to take my picture. On those days, it gets tricky and I have to play around with the low light in the house at night. There are also days where I feel like the Project is annoying and I have my camera on me all day and am hardly really present in the moments that are happening around me. However, as the days go by, it has become more of a routine and is hardly a nuisance. I often snap just a small handful of pictures before I feel like I got it and can put the camera down and start playing.
The collection I have been building isn’t full of amazing photos. There are a few in there I think are especially artsy and cool, but the majority wouldn’t be special to too many people. But they are to me. This has become my journal. A history for my family and my posterity. These pictures are set to last way longer than I will and they will tell our story. I’m starting to understand why I had that nagging urge to do this all that time. I’m glad I finally committed. I’m really getting it.
Several moms out there are getting it too. Throughout these last few months, I have struck a chord with moms who also would love to be capturing family moments and memories. Many of them have a great DSLr camera but have never taken it off auto and often get frustrated with their results. I’m here to help!
On June 13th at my house in Liberty, MO I will be teaching a basic photography class that will cover everything you need to know to improve the quality of pictures you take with your fancy DSLr camera. (or any camera with a manual setting). The class is from 10am-2pm. Lunch will be provided. The bulk of the class will be learning the rules of exposure and how to take your camera off auto and start shooting in full manual mode. Don’t be scared….I promise, YOU CAN DO IT!! You will also learn essential functions and concepts like: ISO, shutter-speed, aperture, white balance, compositional tips and tools, and all sorts of tricks to help you take pictures you will absolutely love! Class cost is $100. I recommend owning or borrowing a camera that has a “M” or manual setting, however it is not required.
Grab your ticket below! This workshop will be limited to 10 attendees. If you have any troubles purchasing via PayPal, please do shoot me an email.
I am available to teach elsewhere and at additional times if there is enough interest and by request.
