“Be happy for this moment, This moment is your life.” Omar Khayyam
As a photographer, you always have to take your chances with weather when you set up an outdoor photo session. But of course, you get the hang of making informed decisions. If it looks like there is a decent chance of rain for the day (over 30% in the forecast) I’ll usually try to reschedule. I don’t want my girls to have the whole experience of hair and make-up and not end up getting the pretty outside session we had planned together. I always check the forecaset. Somehow my weather app led me astray on the day of Taylor’s session because it said zero percent chance of rain. We started off great and took lots of nice pictures at the Liberty Memorial in Downtown KC. It was on the windy side but fine. As we drove to Happy Rock park to finish up the session, I noticed some dark and menacing looking clouds. I kept checking the app but it still claimed that there was no chance of rain. At the park, we took a few more great pictures and then it started raining and even HAILING! That’s right. Out of nowhere it hailed on us! But Taylor wasn’t phased. Somehow this awesome girl kept her cool. She stayed calm, the hail quit and we took pictures with her family under the trees while it drizzled a little and waited it out. As suddenly as the storm had come, it was gone. We were able to finish strong with some cool softball pictures at the field. I was so impressed with Taylor’s laid back attitude. We really had so much fun and got terrific pictures!
A little bit about Taylor- A classic girl, she loves a KitKat bar and the movie the Sandlot. She’s always up for some seafood and spends most of her time playing softball. Taylor’s favorite quote really says so much about her, “Be happy for this moment, This moment is your life”. She is a content person, so easy to be around and good-humored.
Taylor has exciting plans in store for her future, first she hopes to attend a college close to home for about two years. She’s most interested in attending Northwest. After that, she’d like to transfer to Florida Southern to live out her dream of becoming a marine biologist. Ten years from now, she’d love to be in the middle of the ocean, deep sea diving and trying to discover new things. Becoming a marine biologist would not only allow her to help sea animals, but also to explore parts of the oceans that no human has ever seen. Her goals are fantastic–I am so excited for her!
I asked Taylor how she enjoyed her senior portrait session and she said, “I loved my session! Jillian made the whole experience one to remember. I was super nervous about the whole modeling idea, but Jillian made me feel beautiful. I had a great time being sassy and it was fun to be able to be myself and show my personality through a picture.”
She really is beautiful. And her sassy face is perfect! Thanks Taylor for a great session 🙂
