Our little girl turned eight this morning! She feels so special on her birthday. She was just beaming! We love her and are so pleased with the person she is working to become. Our family dynamic is very blessed to have her as the oldest child, she really helps set a tone of love and is a great example to her brother. She’s super excited about the new baby coming in August and will be an amazing help with and loving example to him or her as well.
I conducted a little birthday interview yesterday just to help better capture her at this time in her life.
Q: How would you describe yourself?
A: Well…I would describe myself as: I like what I like, and basically I’m just me.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: Sometimes I like to play with my brother, sometimes Kindle and if my parents aren’t busy, play with my whole family.
Q: What is your favorite sport?
A: Archery is probably my favorite. I also do like soccer.
Q: Favorite song?
A: I do like Follow the Prophet, Jingle Bells, and Love One Another… And You’ve Got what it Takes to be a Kid.
Q: Favorite color:
A: Red, blue, and green.
Q: What do you think you’d like to be when you grow up?
A: There’s a few things I want to be when I grow up. It may take a lot of money, but I’d like to be a stealth driver. And I’d like to be an astronaut and scientist.
Q: What is your favorite subject in school?
A: I do like Art and Science.
Q: What do you like to do when you are with your friends?
A: If we went to a playground I’d like to play some fun games with them and be crazy. Be a kid and just find what we can do.
So that’s Sophia in a few questions. She’s still pretty confident and unique. She’s a little crazy when hanging with her friends. But still at times sensitive and shy. This girl has such a kind heart that I’ve observed her on the playground making efforts to reach out to kids who are sad or don’t feel included-even if she doesn’t know them.
Here are some pictures we took together last week. She’s getting more comfortable and having more fun modeling for me! And she even comes up with lots of pose ideas herself. It was a sweet time for both of us to hang out and focus on her. She’s also getting baptized Saturday, so we made sure to take some pictures at the Kansas City LDS Temple in her new white dress. Here they are, Happy Birthday sweet Sophia!
