“Birth is an opportunity to transcend. To rise above what we are accustomed to, reach deeper inside ourselves than we are familiar with, and to see not only what we are truly made of, but the strength we can access in and through Birth.” ~Marcie Macari
What an amazing opportunity it was to watch my new nephew be born! There is something so inspiring about that process and I was very honored that my sister-in-law, Jessica wanted me to be there.
I got a call from my brother at 3:30 am on December 13th contractions were coming on fast so I needed to hit the road. It’s a long drive from Liberty, Missouri to Fayetteville, Arkansas but with no traffic and…Let’s just say I got there in time. Barely. Little man literally waited for me to run in the room. It was intense. He was born possibly 2 minutes after I got there and that may be generous.
Jessica has been a big influence for me. Her conviction to deliver her oldest son, Grey, naturally and her knowledge about the subject started me on my path to having a natural birth with Kal (which was one of the best experiences of my life). So obviously, I already knew she was one tough, awesome birthing momma, but getting to see that is another story.
It’s hard to describe so, I’ll let the pictures do the talking now.
And now I’m crying. These are so good! I’m sure they’re happy to have Lyle’s birth recorded this way. You’re such a good sister, and obviously, a good photographer.
these are beautiful! Jessica, you’re awesome.
that’s all. <3
